Platinum Property Maintenance -THANK YOU....A JOB TRULY WELL DONE - Wednesday 24. of September
Two weeks ago my neighbour alerted me to the fact that a couple of slates had slipped on my house roof. Not wanting to build a swimming pool in my attic (just yet) I needed to move fast.

Irish Independent - Markin your card

Marking your card ... sometimes it's better to meet face-to-face

Paul Hayes

Paul Hayes

Paul Hayes estimates he goes through at least 1,000 business cards every year through his extensive metworking.

Running two companies, web design firm www.thedesignpool.ie and hosing site www.thehostingpool.ie, Mr. Hayes has spent just €3500 on marketing in his `six years of business.

The Secret of Success

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Instead, he attributes the secret of sucess to face-to-face meetings through a series of networking groups that he is involved in.

"When I started out in my business there was obviously a cost factor in advertising and I couldn't just bundle a load of money into it." he said.

"I saw there was a route through marketing myself in networking, which was a less expensive option. I looked at networking as much as possible and I have grown my business exponentially every year through networking and through word of mouth."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A less expensive option

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The cost can be prohibitive in advertising terms in trying to get a new company off the ground. Each week and each meeting that I go to gives me the opportunity to meet 30 or 40 people at a time and allows me to market myself and my business to those people."

A member of three different networks, Mr. Hayes said there is the constant potential to meet new clients through the regular meetings and generate new business.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Looking after the golden egg

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"They need to feel that you are going to look after them. I have done business with a lot of these people in the different networks and they feel comfortable about referring me to other people. " he said.

"They believe i am going to do a very good job for them and for their clients. It could have the opposite effect for them if they were to refer me to their top client, saying I would do a good job for them and it doesn't happen.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They feel they can trust me

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A new client has been brought along by someone else and they feel they can trust me. In some cases I would have done business with people in the room already"
